(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Thursday August 29, 2013, shortly after the noon hour, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a single motor vehicle crash on Perth Line 8 east of Kirkton.
Investigation revealed that a Pontiac Grand Prix had been travelling west bound in the west bound lane on Perth Line 8 approximately 1 km east of Kirkton. The vehicle crossed the eastbound lane and entered the south ditch striking a hydro pole. The impact caused the pole to break lowering the lines across the roadway. The 39 year old male driver, a resident of the Township of Perth South was transported to St.Marys Memorial Hospital. The male received treatment and was released. He has been charged with careless driving.
Hydro One crews are at the scene replacing the broken pole. Power was disrupted to two rural residences. Perth Line 8 between Hwy 23 (Road 164) and Road 161 is expected to remain closed until 4:30 p.m.
