OPP INVESTIGATE FATAL COLLISION

(Oro-Medonte, ON) At 11:35 PM on Sunday September 1st, Barrie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a two vehicle, fatal motor vehicle collision at highway 11 Northbound south of Simcoe County Road 93, Oro-Medonte Twp. Barrie OPP, Simcoe County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Oro-Medonte Fire Department (OMFD) responded to a two vehicle collision. A car travelling southbound on highway 11 lost control and went into the ditch. The vehicle then entered the northbound lanes striking a vehicle in that lane. The driver a 41 year old North York woman was confirmed deceased at scene. Her passenger and the driver of the northbound vehicle suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator (TTCI) team members were on scene to assist with the investigation. Traffic was rerouted to Simcoe County Road 93 for several hours while OPP investigated. Highway 11 is now open in both directions.

The names of the victims will be released pending notification of the next of kin.
