(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County detachment along with Haldimand County Emergency Services (EMS) responded to a pedestrian verse car collision at a Caithness Street Caledonia, Haldimand County, ON address.
Tonight, Friday September 6th, 2013 at approximately 8:20 pm a 73 year old Haldimand County, ON female pedestrian was crossing Caithness St. at Banff St taking her dog for a walk when she was struck by an eastbound blue 2005 Chev SUV. The SUV was being operated a 23 year old Haldimand County, ON female.
As a result of the collision the 73 year old female pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the attending Coroner.
The dog sustained serious injuries and died a short time later at the Caledonia Veterinarian office.
The 23 year old female driver identified as Laurissa BURGESS of Haldimand County, ON was not physically injured.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.
Caithness St. is closed to through traffic and will remain closed for the next several hours to allow for investigation.
Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
