(CALEDON, ON) – On Friday, September 6 2013, shortly before 11:50 pm, a citizen contacted police to report an erratic driver travelling on Regional Road 50 in the area of Castlederg Side Road. Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the area and located the suspect vehicle on Highway 9. The officers activated their emergency equipment to intercept the vehicle and to determine the driver’s sobriety. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The officers requested the driver provide a sample of his breath on the roadside breathalyzer instrument. The driver refused to provide a sample upon request.
As a result, Nathan Michael DEAN, 37, of Mono was arrested and charged with Fail to Provide Breath Sample.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused will make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 31, 2013.
