(Collingwood, Ontario) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a male after responding to an alarm call at the Beer Store in Collingwood yesterday morning.
On the 10th of September 2013 at approximately 4:30am, officers responded to an alarm at the Beer Store on First Street in Collingwood. As the first officer arrived on scene, a male was observed exiting the business, get on a bicycle and fled the scene with police in tow. The male was subsequently arrested a short time later where he was found to be in possession of a stolen bicycle that he had obtained from a nearby residence.
The male was transported to Collingwood detachment for processing. Further investigation revealed that the accused male was also responsible for several break and enters in the town of Collingwood over the weekend from Saturday the 7th of September to Monday morning the 9th of September 2013. These B&Es were committed at several businesses where varying amounts of money was stolen during each B&E.
Charged is 27 year-old Mark WEST of Collingwood. He is facing criminal charges of break and enter x7, breach of probation x7 and theft under $5000. He was held for bail court where he appeared yesterday in Barrie courts.
