(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On Sunday August 25, 2013 at 12:50 p.m. members of the Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Fire Department and Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two vehicle collision on the westbound lanes of Hwy 401 at Mull Road.
Police investigation revealed that a black Chevrolet Cavalier collided with a white Ford pick-up truck which was towing a camper trailer in the westbound lanes of Hwy 401. The collision caused the pick-up and trailer to leave the roadway and enter the ditch. As a result, two occupants of the pick-up truck were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses indicated that the Cavalier was being driven in an erratic manner just moments before the collision. The vehicle was also observed stopping momentarily at the scene and a male driver and female passenger exited the vehicle and shortly after drove away.
As a result of an on-going OPP investigation, a 17 year old Chatham, Ontario man has been charged with Careless Driving and Fail To Remain At the Scene of a Collision under the Highway Traffic Act.
