(FORT FRANCES, ON) On September 20, 2013 at 4:48 am, officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services and Fort Frances Fire and Rescue responded to a single motor vehicle collision on the 1200 block of Second Street East in Fort Frances, ON.
Police are continuing to remain on scene to investigate the cause of the crash that involved one vehicle. Officers can confirm that a 2008 Chevrolet Colbalt was eastbound on Second Street at a high rate of speed when the vehicle collided with two hydro poles. Three occupants were able to exit the vehicle before the vehicle became engulfed in flames. Two females and one male were taken to the local hospital with significant injuries.
The 1200 block of Second Street East remains closed until the investigation is complete and Fort Frances Power Corporation completes the necessary repairs to the damaged hydro poles.
