The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman following a shoplifting complaint in Chatham yesterday.
Around 3:30 p.m. the woman entered a business on St. Clair Street. Once inside, the woman placed several items in her shopping cart. The woman was then observed placing three (3) packs of imitation nails and five (5) BIC lighters in her purse. The items in her cart were paid for, however the woman failed to make any attempt to pay for the concealed items in her purse.
Shortly after 4:00 p.m. the woman exited the store and was arrested. Colette Clarke, 44 years, of Spencer Avenue in Chatham has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released with conditions pending a future court date.
