TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO ARREST

(CALEDON, ON) – On Sunday, September 21, 2013 shortly before 2 am, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Regional Road 50 and George Bolton Parkway in the Village of Bolton. The officer observed a white Honda Civic travelling at a high rate of speed northbound on Regional Road 50 and witnessed as the driver failed to stop for a red light at the intersection. The officer activated the vehicle’s emergency equipment in order to conduct a traffic stop at Industrial Road. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer immediately detected the odour of burnt marijuana inside the motor vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, the officers located a quantity of drugs, believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine.

As a result of the traffic stop, Michael Robert SARDONE, 22, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose and Possession of a Schedule 1 substance. The driver is also facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The male is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 21, 2013.
