(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Friday, September 20, 2013 at approximately 1:18 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of Wellington County OPP, attended Maple Grove Village trailer park on Hwy. 89 in the Township of Southgate after receiving a report of a male resident damaging property and uttering threats.
Investigation revealed the accused had physically assaulted his spouse earlier in the day; his anger stemming from the appointment of a new park manager in the Village. The victim left the residence and called 911 after the accused began damaging their property and threatening to burn down their house.
The accused was arrested outside his residence and transported to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment where he was held pending a bail hearing. He was later taken to the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre in Owen Sound for assessment.
The 56 year old male faces multiple charges including; assault, utter threat to cause death or bodily harm (x2); utter threat to damage property and mischief under $5,000.
