TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO CHARGES

(Madoc, ON) – On September 14, 2013 just after 8pm Central Hastings O.P.P received a traffic complaint about an aggressive driver travelling south on Highway # 62 from the Village of Madoc to Frankford Road in the City of Belleville. The vehicle was observed leaving the roadway, cutting through a parking lot and reentering the roadway cutting between two vehicles. It was reported the driver was making hand gestures out the window, passing unsafely and had failed to stop for a stop sign. The vehicle was subsequently stopped by officers and the driver was arrested for Stunt Driving. The investigation revealed the driver had been consuming alcohol and open alcohol was found in the vehicle.

As a result 19 year old Drew REID of Marmora, ON was charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle While Performing a Stunt/Careless Driving and Novice Driver Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero. His drivers licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded both for a period of seven days. He will appear in Belleville Traffic Court today.

In addition 17 year old Jacob THOMPKINS of Warkworth, ON was charged with Having Liquor in an Open Container in Other Than a Licenced Premise, Residence or Private Place contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.
