(CHESLEY, ON) – On September 20, 2013 at 4:01 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that a driver had failed to stop for a school bus with its stop arm extended and lights flashing. Officers located the Blue Buick Century and the driver, 83 year old Irene SWARTZ of Arran-Elderslie Township, was charged with Fail to stop for school bus.
The penalty for Failing to stop for school bus is a $490 fine and 6 demerit points. The consequences can be much worse if a student is hit.
