(ADELAIDE-METCALFE, ON)- On Tuesday October 1, 2013 at 7:23 a.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Southwest Middlesex Fire Department and Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Calvert Drive and Thames Road, located in the Municipality of Adelaide Metcalfe.
Police are currently in the preliminary stages of the investigation, but have confirmed that a northbound Volkswagen Jetta is believed to have travelled through a controlled intersection, directly into the path of an eastbound Honda Odyssey minivan. As a result of this incident the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta, an adult female died at the scene. The male driver of the Honda Odyssey was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for serious injuries.
The deceased female has been identified as Audrey BIEBER, age 49 of Muirkirk, ON. The second driver has been identified a male, age 31 of Dresden, ON.
Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team were deployed to the scene to assist with the investigation. As a result Calvert Drive between Winter Drive and Burdon Road was closed to the public for a period of seven hours.
The investigation is currently on-going and police will be working to identify all factors relating to this collision.
