(Selwyn Township, ON) – On Monday October 1 2013 at approximately 9:00 am officers from the Peterborough County OPP were dispatched to a cottage fire on Pearson Lane.
Upon arrival, the cottage was found to be fully engulfed in flame. Selwyn Township Fire Department was already on scene.
As a result of this fire, the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to examine the scene.
A search of the debris of the cottage uncovered human remains. These remains have been transported to Toronto where a Post Mortem has been scheduled for October 2nd to determine the cause of death and to identify the deceased.
Members of Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit are working with the Fire Marshal’s Office in the ongoing investigation and foul play is not suspected at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.
