(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – The Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a report of two men knocking on doors in the Bruce Peninsula offering furnace inspections. The two wear shirts indicating they are from Eco-Energy and appear to be very interested in the residence of the person. The home owner in this instance became suspicious, did not allow them entry, and called the OPP.
Remember: do not allow persons entry unless you have called them to inspect your furnace. All reputable companies have well marked service vehicles, and in most cases the employees are required to have photo identification.
Scams come in all forms so if you did not make the call for service, do not let the person in.
The Bruce Peninsula OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or send a web-tip to crimestop-gb.org. You may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
