(ENNISKELLIN TOWNSHIP, ON) – On September 28, 2013 at approximately 9:00 p.m. a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police was responding to an urgent call for service when he came upon a farm vehicle on Courtright Line pulling a wagon without rear trailer lights or markers. The member took evasive action to avoid striking the wagon and the fully marked police vehicle entered the south ditch and rolled over coming to rest on its roof.
The officer and his Auxiliary OPP passenger were taken to a local hospital where they were treated and released with minor injuries. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
Upon completion of the investigation by OPP Technical Collision Investigators, OPP have issued a Provincial Offence Notice to Provincial Constable Thomas VANBOVEN, a six year member attached to the OPP, for Careless Driving. The other driver was issued a Provincial Offence Notice under Section 62(24) of the Highway Traffic Act for – No Light on Rear of Trailer.
