No Seatbelt and Beer In Hand Leads To Trafficking Charge

Barrie Police officer observed a motorist operating a motor vehicle without a seatbelt on Dunlop Street West. The officer stopped the vehicle in question and the male driver exited with a beer bottle in hand. The female passenger exited the vehicle as well. The officers were searching the vehicle for further illegal alcohol when they located a bag containing drugs and money. The identification of the female was also located in the purse. The 21 yr old Mississuaga female and a 32 yr old Barrie male were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. Both the accused were transported to the station where the female was released with a third offence of obstruct police and released on a promise to appear. The male was held for a bail hearing and was under charged with breach his undertaking.
