(PORT HOPE, ON) – Members of Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently on scene at Highway 401 at the East Townline Road overpass west of Port Hope. The over pass bridge has been struck by unknown vehicle and has scattered debris across two lanes of westbound 401.
Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has been notified and are on route for damage inspection of the bridge and clean-up of debris.
One lane is passable for traffic at this time and poor weather visibility cause by heavy rain is also a concern.
OPP are asking motorists to exercise caution in the area by slowing down and abide by MTO directional signs.
