(PORT HOPE, ON) – Northumberland OPP are investigating a collision of a tractor trailer which was towing an excavator that struck the East Townline overpass bridge west of Port Hope, causing concrete to fall into the path of a westbound vehicle, causing a second collision. There are no injuries being reported.
Presently OPP expect two of the three westbound 401 lanes to be closed for several hours while MTO staff assist with the investigation into the overpass’ structural damage and for the clean-up of debris.
OPP will update when all lanes are back open and to remind motorist again to exercise caution while travelling through the area.
