Around 3:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a disturbance in the area of Anger Street and Chatham Street in Blenheim. Through investigation, officers spoke to a man and learned that he was in possession of a stolen helmet and motorcycle. Officers determined that the motorcycle had been stolen from a residence on Wood Street in Shrewsbury earlier in the night. The man drove the motorcycle into Blenheim until it stalled. The value of the motorcycle was $10,000.
The man was taken into custody and upon being searched incident to arrest, he was found to be in drug possession.
Police further learned that the man was currently bound by conditions to obey a curfew and not to possess any drug paraphernalia. A 24-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property obtained by a crime over $5000 and two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
