Tolson CARTER – Drive While Suspended And Drug Charge

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers continue to be on the lookout for drivers and passengers failing to wear their seatbelts. The OPP’s Fall Seatbelt Campaign is now into the second week of the campaign. A traffic stop on Sunday, October 6, 2013 resulted in a little more than a traffic ticket for one driver. At 1:35 p.m. a Huron County OPP officer spotted the front seat passenger of a green Pontiac Montana failing to wear his seatbelt.

The mini-van was stopped near Joseph Street in Clinton. Upon speaking with the driver a strong odour of marihuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle. A driver’s licence check was completed and it revealed the driver was currently a suspended driver. The driver was arrested and a search of the vehicle was completed. Upon searching the vehicle a quantity of marihuana was found.

As a result, 21 year old Tolson CARTER from Central Huron has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cannabis Marihuana) contrary to section 4 (1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Drive While Under Suspension contrary to section 53 (1) Highway Traffic Act. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on December 13, 2013.

A 21 year old male from Central Huron was also ticketed with Passenger Fail to Wear Seat Belt.
