(Brockville,ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police in Leeds County investigated 6 collisions involving deer over the weekend.
The O.P.P investigated car deer crashes in the Mallorytown, and Lansdowne area as well as Wolfe Island over the weekend.
There were no injuries to persons in any of these incidents.
The O.P.P. would like to remind drivers to drive safely and that wild animals are unpredictable, however there are two peak times when the risk of collision is highest, one being May and June the other being from October to January.
The O.P.P would like drivers to keep in mind the following to help reduce collision risk.
-watch, scan the road ahead, when you see wildlife slow down and pass carefully.
-steer, stay in control and watch your speed, slowing down may enable you better reaction time.
-brake, brake firmly, do not assume that an animal will move out of the way.
-stop, stop as safely as you can, one animal can sometimes have others following.
