SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN ARSON INVESTIGATION

(Selwyn Township, ON) – In the early hours of Saturday November 17, 2012 Peterborough County OPP and Smith-Ennismore Fire Department responded to a fire at 1528 Chemong Road, just north of the City of Peterborough.

The fire was to a business known as Kawartha Home and Properties Inc. The building was subsequently totally destroyed by the fire.

Members of the Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit and the Ontario Fire Marshalls office began a joint investigation into the cause and circumstances surrounding the fire. This initial investigation determined that the fire was intentionally set by unknown suspect(s) A lengthy criminal investigation ensued.

As a result of this investigation on Wednesday October 30 2013, two suspects were arrested and charged with criminal offences related to the fire.

Charged are: 39 year old Jamie MILLS of Selwyn Township, who is charged with Arson for Fraudulent Purpose. and 30 year old Danny ELSON of Selwyn Township who is charged with Arson Causing Damage to Property.

Both suspects have been released from custody to appear in Peterborough Provincial Courts on December 12, 2013.
