On October 2, 2013 at 6:20 a.m., employees of Hydro One located a male in their compound acting suspiciously. The male fled on foot and was subsequently observed a short time later by Hydro One employees who contacted the Police. The male was arrested without incident on Edinburgh Road South by members of the Guelph Police Service.
Investigation revealed forced entry to the compound of 225 Edinburgh Road South and the theft of Hydro One property. Damage was also detected which caused Hydro disruption to 18,000 Guelph residents for approximately 20 minutes until power could be restored.
Christopher MORDEN, 20 years of Cambridge was arrested that day and has been charged with break, enter and theft, mischief over $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He will appear in court on November 8, 2013.
Continued investigation has identified a second man that took part in the break and enter. On October 29, 2013 Aaron SMITH, 26 years of Cambridge was arrested and has been charged with break and enter and mischief over $5,000. He will appear in court on December 13, 2013.
