On November 9, 2014, the Owen Sound Police Service received a complaint of a break in to a vacant industrial building. The investigation revealed that approximately 600 pounds of copper wire had been removed from the interior. The copper was valued at approximately $1800.00.
On November 11, 2014, police received information leading to the discovery of the copper wire in a residence in Owen Sound. The persons responsible had been working on stripping the wire prior to selling it for scrap. Police recovered the copper and have since arrested three persons in connection with the theft. An 18 year old male and a 19 year old female from Owen Sound have been charged with Break, Enter and Theft and Possession of Stolen Property. They have been released to attend court on December 11, 2014. A 17 year old youth has been diverted into an alternative measures program.
