We appear to be getting winter early and all signs point to it staying. Please remember there is no parking on the municipal streets from 2 am to 8 am. This is to facilitate snow removal. Even if it does not snow the bylaw is in effect. The fine is $30 and your vehicle may be towed. Our Public Works people do a great job of keeping our roads clear please assist them by keeping your vehicle off the street during that time.

11:40 am police are investigating the theft of two bicycles around SDSS.

11:44 pm police received a report of a bicycle taken from a shed. The culprit had awakened the people inside the house. The person could not be located. In the meantime the person located the bicycle two days later in the bike pen at the police office and recovered her bicycle.

4 Nov 2014,

11:22 am police responded to a deer / vehicle collision on County Rd 40. The vehicle received minor damage, the deer did not survive.

12:17 pm police responded to a report of the theft of a snow blower from a shed in a rear yard in Port Elgin. The snow blower is a 10.5 hp green Canadian Tire Yard Works. Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.

11:39 am police responded to a deer / vehicle collision at Railway St Southampton. Minor damage to the vehicle and the deer ran off.

7 Nov 2014,

9:34 am police arrested a 51 year old Ajax man on the strength of a warrant issued by a Justice of the Peace in Walkerton on a Saugeen Shores matter. The male was in a motor vehicle collision on Highway 10 and the OPP learned this warrant was in effect. Saugeen Shores Police met up with the OPP and arrested this person taking him to Walkerton Court for a bail hearing. The warrant was for an unpaid traffic violation.

11:55 pm police responded to a report of a vehicle having the tires slashed while parked in Port Elgin, no suspects.

8 Nov 2014,

4:02 am police responded to a report of someone throwing rocks at the front window of their house in Southampton. Police observed two people run into the bush towards Copway St and tried to locate. Police located a vehicle in the ditch on the north side of the treed area. OPP attended to assist with our officers. The responsible parties were identified and one was taken home, no charges.

9:28 am police responded to a report of damage to a rental property. Police are investigating.

5:15 pm police responded to a Port Elgin home where it appears that over a period of a few days someone had struck the side of the house with paintballs. No suspects, police are investigating.

9 Nov 2014,

2:49 am, police responded to a Port Elgin residence where an intoxicated person entered a home (not his) and laid down on the couch. The residents called police and ejected the male from their residence. The male was located down the street in an intoxicated condition and arrested for public intoxication. He spent the night in the cell.
