17 Year Old Caught Doing 169 in an 80 – Mother’s Vehicle Impounded

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – On Sunday morning November 16, 2014, shortly before 1 a.m., an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrols along Highway 8 east of Mitchell when a fast moving vehicle was observed.

An SUV was observed travelling east bound on Highway 8 at an extremely high rate of speed. The officer activated the police radar and locked the vehicle in at a speed of 169 km/h. This is 89 km/h above the posted 80 km/h zone. The 2009 Honda CRV was pulled over by the officer, and the seventeen year old male driver, a resident of Stratford, advised that he was operating his mother’s vehicle.

The male was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”, and is to appear at Stratford Court on December 09, 2014, to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his mother’s vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for a week.

The teen’s mother attended the scene and drove him home.
