(Ottawa) – An Ottawa Police Service investigation has resulted in 10 charges laid against one individual related to online extortion and harassment of three female victims from the Ottawa area.
In January of 2012, after receiving a complaint from one of the three victims an investigation was started by the East District Investigation Unit. As a result two more victims were identified. All victims are in their 20’s and all knew the accused.
On Friday, November 14th, 2014, a search warrant was executed by Ottawa Police on a residence in the City of Ottawa’s east end, and resulted in the 10 charges laid.
Charged in this case is Alexander MILLER, 21 years old of Ottawa:
Extortion, three counts
Criminal Harassment, four counts
Mischief Data, one count
Intercept Private Communication, one count
Attempt to Commit Summary Offence, one count
The Ottawa Police Service urges victims to come forward and report any form of online bullying, extortion, and/or harassment.
