MVC PROP. DAMAGE
Incident #: WA14264798
Incident Date: Nov 20, 2014
Location: HAYWARD AVE and COURTLAND AVE E, KITCHENER ON Canada
On Thursday November 20, 2014 at approximately 4:15 pm a South Bruce man was operating a transport truck on Courtland Avenue East in the city of Kitchener. The truck was pulling a dump trailer and as the truck continued southbound the trailer began to rise which caused it to strike power lines across Courtland Avenue East.
The truck then became entangled in the wires. The damage to the lines caused two poles to snap and damage to a third. Kitchener Fire, Waterloo Regional Police and Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro arrived on scene. The driver was unhurt but had to remain in the truck until hydro crews were able to shut all power to the lines. As a result of the damage, Courtland Avenue East was closed and it is expected to be closed for most of November 21, 2014 in order for Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro to repair the lines. The driver of the truck was charged with Careless Driving. Any witnesses to the incident are requested to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service Traffic Services Branch at 519-653-7700 ext. 8856.
