Gabor SZABO, 43 from Windsor, Ontario has been issued a Provincial Offence Notice for the offence of Drive – display screen visible to driver under the Highway Traffic Act. This offence carries a $225 fine plus victim surcharges for total fine being $280.

The members of Northumberland OPP diligently work to support the OPP’s Provincial Traffic Safety Program (PTSP) which addresses the “Big Four” driving behaviors that includes distracted driving, impaired driving, aggressive driving and seat belts. Last year on OPP patrolled roads 86 deaths were caused by distraction related collisions.

Northumberland Detachment Commander – Acting Inspector Rob KOBAYASHI says “that with the heightened awareness surrounding the distracted driving laws it is shocking to see these types of offences. I am pleased to see a community member taking the time to alert us to these poor driving behaviours. It is this very engagement that we all need to have to make our highways and communities a safer place.”
