Police Officer Struck By Vehicle – Good Samaritans Provide First Aid

On Thursday November 27, 2014 at approximately 8:25 pm, a Waterloo Regional Police Officer was struck by a motor vehicle on Trussler Rd at Bleams Rd, Wilmot Township. The 16 year police veteran was investigating a previous motor vehicle collision in a ditch at that location. The vehicle that struck the officer was southbound on Bleams Rd approaching Trussler Rd. The driver was not able to stop at the stop sign, sliding acrosss Trussler RD, and striking the officer in the south ditch of Trussler Rd. Several citizens who witnessed the collision administered first aid until additional officers and paramedics arrived at the scene. The officer was taken to Grand River Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The officer was treated and released. Weather conditions are considered to be a factor in this collision. The investigation is continuing.
