(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – On Thursday November 20, 2014 the Iroquois Falls Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 101, in Matheson Township.
The investigating officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. As a result of the stop and through investigation it was revealed that the driver had a firearm in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
The driver, Marc Rejean DESCOTEAUX age 33 of Ramore, Ontario has been charged with the following offences:
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada,
Careless Storage of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada,
Careless Transportation of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada,
Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
He is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on January 10, 2015.
