Occurrence Type: Theft
Occurrence #: BA14-057775
Date: Saturday, November 29, 2014 – 12:00pm
On the 29th of November 2014 at approximately 12pm, a male and female entered an electronics store in Barrie’s south end. The male was described as male of east Indian decent, late 30’s, 5’10, heavy build (approx.280-300lbs), wearing a grey coat toque and scarf. The female is described as female of east Indian decent, late 30’s, wearing a long grey coat, black pants, black boots and what police believe to be a fake pregnancy belly.
The male entered the store and was communicating on the cell phone as he observed property within the store. A short time later the female entered the store and was communicating on the cell phone. She proceeded to attend the area of the male at which time the male removed the item from its packaging and the female would then stuff the unpackaged property into the side of the fake pregnancy belly. The pair wondered the store for a short period where they continued to select property, remove it from packaging and conceal it within the belly of the female.
The pair exited the store and were observed leaving in a silver Dodge Caravan seconds prior to being apprehended by store security. Police were contacted to investigate.
While the officer was investigating, a decision was made to contact surrounding electronic stores within the region to advise of the description and operation of the two suspects.
A call was made to a sister store in Newmarket at which time security observed the two suspects just exiting the store. Employees were able to identify a licence plate as the two suspects left the parking lot.
Police may have an identity on the two suspects who are believed to be from the Toronto area. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
