(CITY OF LONDON, ON) – On December 18, 2014 at approximately 10:21 p.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling Highway 401 when the officer observed an erratic vehicle travelling westbound approaching Colonel Talbot Road in the City of London. As the officer initiated a traffic stop, the driver was seen throwing items from the car. Police discovered a small quantity of suspected drugs in the area from where the items were thrown from the vehicle. While police interacted with the driver, it was apparent the driver had been drinking and was impaired. Police also learned the driver’s licence was suspended.
The driver was arrested and brought to a local police detachment for further tests. As a result of the investigation, police have charged Aron ELIJAH, age 48 of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation with:
Possession of a Schedule I Substance – other drugs– Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – under 30 grams – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Impaired Driving – Criminal Code of Canada
Over 80 – Criminal Code of Canada
Drive While Under Suspension – Highway Traffic Act
The accused was later released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom January 23, 2015 to speak to the charges.
