Drug Warning At RIDE

(HOLLAND TWP, ON) – On December 23, 2014 at 3:11 pm, members of the Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. on Chatsworth Road 24 in Holland Township when a Red Ford Freestar stopped. The driver was assessed for drug impairment and released with a caution.

“This is a time of year we can expect an increase in Highway traffic as people travel to visit with friends or family. It’s important that everyone arrives safely at their destination as this is not a good time of year to attend a funeral for a loved one that died in a preventable collision. To that end, I want it clearly understood that impaired driving includes both alcohol impairment and drug impairment. I appreciate the efforts of the drivers that share the road, obey the traffic laws and contribute to public safety on the roads. For those that don’t, Grey County OPP officers will be out in force over the holidays exercising a zero tolerance for impaired drivers and any other actions that pose a threat to highway safety” – Inspector Mike Guilfoyle, Detachment Commander, Grey County OPP.

The Grey County OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or send a web-tip to crimestop-gb.org, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
