Fire Destroys Chatsworth Home On Christmas Morning

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Thursday, December 25, 2014 at approximately 2:38 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a structure fire on the East Back Line in the Township of Chatsworth.

The home owner was awakened to the sound of audible fire alarms throughout the two storey structure. The 48 year old male victim exited the smoke filled house through a second storey window and called 9-1-1 from a neighbour’s residence. He was taken to hospital as a precaution and released. His wife, son and daughter were out of town visiting relatives when the incident occurred.

The Grey Highlands Fire Department, with the assistance of the Chatsworth Fire Department attended the fire which was fully involved upon their arrival. The Chatsworth Fire Department continues to investigate. The fire was not deemed to be suspicious.
