(BRIGHTON, ON) – At 11:00pm December 31, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a County Road 64 residence by ambulance attendants who were attempting to assist an injured male who had been punching walls. The intoxicated male was aggressive with paramedics as well as police when they arrived, wanting to fight them.
At one point, the male ran into his house. When officers located him inside, he was holding a rifle with a scope challenging them and refusing to comply with the officer’s commands. After several moments of ‘tactical communication’ by the officers, the male dropped the rifle and walked towards the officers yelling at them to “Taser me!â€
The male was eventually arrested without the use of a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW). It was at this point that the officers determined the rifle was a pellet gun. He was taken to the Brighton OPP Detachment and held until he was sober.
Justin GREEN age 20 of Brighton is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on January 21, 2015 charged with Possession of Weapons Dangerous and Causing a Disturbance.
