Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision On Norwich Road

(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to investigate a two-vehicle fatal collision on Norwich Road in Norwich Township.

On January 3, 2015 at approximately 4:40 p.m. police were called to the collision on Norwich Road between Middletown Line and County Road 13. A westbound car lost control and entered the eastbound lane of Norwich Road. The car then collided head-on with an eastbound SUV.

As a result of the collision, a passenger of the SUV, an eleven year old female, died later in hospital. The two involved drivers and four other passengers were transported by ambulance to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The OPP Technical Traffic Investigation (TTCI) Team attended the scene to assist with the investigation. The Norwich Fire Department, Norfolk EMS, and Oxford EMS attended and assisted at the scene.

Norwich Road was closed between Middletown Line and County Road 13 for over four hours and has since been re-opened.

The identity of the deceased female is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
