(Town of New Tecumseth, ON) On the 5th of January 2015 at approximately 4:40 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Industrial Parkway just west of Tottenham Road in the Town of New Tecumseth.
It was determined that a transport truck driver had been travelling eastbound and had stopped to check a mechanic issue. The transport driver exited his truck and was standing near the rear of his truck, when a SUV motor vehicle rear-ended the transport truck; striking the transport truck driver.
Both drivers were transported to hospital, the 26-year old male transport truck driver of Barrie suffered serious injuries and was later transferred to a Toronto area hospital. The SUV driver, 80-year old male from Alliston suffered minor injuries.
The OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Unit (TTCI) attended the scene to investigate the collision, and Industrial Parkway remains closed between Tottenham Road and Church Street, pending the completion of all evidence being collected.
The investigation is continuing.
