(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – On January 1, 2015 at approximately 12:15 a.m., Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex when an officer observed an erratic driver travelling in the area of Main Street and McKellar Street in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and through interaction with the driver, it was apparent the driver had been drinking and was impaired.
The driver was arrested and brought to a local police detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation, police have charged 21 year old Peter REMPEL of Malahide Township with Over 80 and Impaired Driving, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The driver was later released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom February 8, 2015 to speak to the charges. His vehicle was impounded for seven days and his licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.
