(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) –Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Wellington County commenced their Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Campaign to align with the provincial initiative on November 24, 2014.
Wellington County OPP’s local Festive R.I.D.E. Campaign actually began November 19th and will continue until January 11, 2014. Officers have been active throughout the County both day and night. There have been 139 R.I.D.E. Programs thus far.
The results of the campaign to-date are;
– 17187 Vehicles checked
– 65 Warn Range Suspensions
– 32 Impaired/ Over 80/ Refuse
Detachment Commander Inspector Scott Lawson says “Unfortunately at the midway juncture of the campaign the numbers were somewhat discouraging and these results are very unfortunate and actually quite inexcusable Despite all our education and awareness efforts we were hoping drivers would do their part but I guess we have more work to do.
