(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On January 11, 2015 at approximately 2:09 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Highway 6 at College Avenue in the City of Guelph. Officers observed a 2012 Honda approach the R.I.D.E. and stop. The driver eventually entered the checkpoint and spoke with the officers. The driver had a strong odour of alcohol on her breath and exhibited obvious signs of impairment. She was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days as per statute.
Krista JACOBSON age 36 of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on February 10, 2015 to answer to the charges.
