(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On Sunday, February 1, 2015, Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were kept very busy throughout the day and evening responding to several motor vehicle collisions along Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
Officers took a proactive approach by conducting continual traffic slowdowns, in an attempt to keep motorists safe and traveling at an appropriate speed for the deteriorating weather and road conditions.
While one officer was conducting a slowdown, he observed a Buick vehicle attempting to pass his police vehicle. The officer obtained a speed reading on the vehicle, which exceeded the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr.
The driver, 29 year old Ryan TURGEON, from Windsor, has been charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
