(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On February 1, 2015, just before 9:00 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 401 westbound, near Victoria Road.
The collision occurred when a westbound Mazda car attempted to pass a westbound Volvo tractor trailer. The Mazda struck the Volvo, left the roadway and came to rest in the centre median.
Subsequent OPP investigation resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana. The occupants of the Mazda, 26 year old driver, Shaka BURKE, and 23 year old passenger, Simona INGILIZOVA, both from Windsor, have been charged with Possession of Marihuana, over 30 grams. The driver has also been charged with Careless Driving and Driving While Under Suspension.
They will appear in a Chatham court on March 15, 2015, to answer to the charges.
No injuries were reported.
