(DUFFERIN COUNTY, ON) – Dufferin OPP officers were kept busy in first half of Distracted Driving campaign with the following results
Distracted Driving Charges 10
Total Number of Provincial Offence Tickets 139
(Including speeding/No insurance card)
Traffic Enforcement Hours 131.25
The interim results are concerning since motorists are still using cellphones while driving and continue to exceed speed limit putting themselves and other citizens at risk. Distracted driving remains a leading cause of motor vehicle collisions resulting in serious bodily harm or death.
Motorists are reminded that if you must use your cell phone in a hand-held manner, you must pull over, completely off the roadway and not in a live lane. Waiting at a red light or while stopped in a line-up of traffic is not considered ‘off the roadway’ and you risk being charged for the offence.
