Paul CORY – Drunk Driving, Drive While Suspended, Open Liquor, etc, etc.

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On March 28, 2015, just before 9:00 p.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a Chevrolet Cavalier on Highway 401 westbound near Victoria Road, for a traffic violation.

While the officer was speaking with the driver, 41 year old Paul CORY, from Blenheim, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The officer also observed open containers of alcohol in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the driver’s licence was suspended. As well, the vehicle he was operating was not insured, and the licence plates had no validation and were not authorized for the vehicle.

Subsequent tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit and he will appear in a Chatham court on April 24, 2015, to answer to the following charges:

· Driving With More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol In Blood, under the Criminal Code of Canada

· Driving Motor Vehicle With Open Container Of Liquor, under the Liquor Licence Act

· Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

· Driving Motor Vehicle No Validation On Plate, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

· Use Plate Not Authorized For Vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

· Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The 45 year old passenger from Chatham, has been charged with Having Liquor In Open Container In Other Than Licenced Premises, under the Liquor Licence Act.
