Hawkesbury Weekly Release

In the week of March 23rd to March 30th, Hawkesbury OPP officers responded to

208 occurrences. Three break and enter incidents were reported. Seven incidents of assault and eight incidents of theft were reported. For a third consecutive week, officers did not investigate any impaired driving related incidents. Out of these 208 occurrences, 26 concluded with accusations.

BREAK AND ENTER INCIDENTS – JEWELRY THIEVES

Once again break-ins during the last week have been executed during the daytime. The burglar(s) had a specific target: jewelry.

(Champlain, ON) The Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a break-in that occurred on Wednesday March 25th at a Pearl Road residence in Champlain.

Constable Chantal Duchesne investigated the daytime crime.

The investigation revealed that someone broke in a door of the house sometime between 8 am and 4 pm. Jewelry and money were stolen.

The matter is under investigation.

(East-Hawkesbury, ON) The Hawkesbury OPP is investigating another daytime break-in that occurred on Friday March 27th at a County Road 14 residence in East-Hawkesbury.

Constable Yan Faille investigated the break-in.

The investigation revealed that someone broke in a door of the house sometime between 9 am and 3 pm. Various pieces of jewelry were stolen.

The matter is under investigation.

(Hawkesbury, ON) The Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a daytime break-in once again that occurred on Friday March 27th at a Bon Pasteur Street residence in Hawkesbury.

Constable Jean-Michel Maceus investigated the break-in.

The investigation revealed that someone broke in a back door of the house sometime during the day. Various pieces of jewelry were stolen.

The matter is under investigation.

Once again, the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment is working hard to ensure the safety of our citizens with directed patrols and efforts to reduce victimization. The help of neighbors is paramount in protecting neighborhoods. If anyone suspects any criminal activity or bizarre behavior, they are encouraged to call it in.

When reporting something suspicious, police advise to attempt to get the most information from the person such as description, type of vehicle, licence plate, direction of travel, etc.

MAN CHARGED FOR FRAUDULENT CHEQUES

(Hawkesbury, ON) Hawkesbury OPP Constable Jonathan Lacelle investigated a complaint of fraudulent cheques that had been made in the town of Hawkesbury.

The investigation revealed that a 21 year old man wrote a series of cheques by using someone else’s cheques and forging the person’s signature.

Eric BRUNET (21 yrs) of Hawkesbury was charged with 2 counts of Fraud Under $5000 of section 380(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada .

BRUNET is scheduled to appear at the L’Orignal Court on April 8th.

PUBLIC INTOXICATION

(Hawkesbury, ON) Hawkesbury OPP officers received complaints of a drunk male that was knocking on doors and causing problems. Constables Steve Roy and Lise Durocher responded and arrested the intoxicated male that was seen walking at the intersection of Cameron Street and Main Street East Tuesday evening at approximately 10 pm. The male was indeed heavily intoxicated and was deemed a danger to himself and others.

Consequently he was arrested and held overnight at the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment.

Patrick LEPAGE (30 yrs) of Hawkesbury was arrested charged under section 31(4) of the Liquor License Act for Being intoxicated in public place. He was served a Provincial Offence Notice (ticket) with a fine of $65.

He was released the next morning.

OTHER INTOXICATION

(Hawkesbury, ON) Hawkesbury OPP officers received complaint of a drunk male that attended the Hawkesbury General Hospital but left before being seen by the doctor.

Constables Yan Faille and Eddy Saardi found the male passed out in the stairs of an apartment complex close by.

The male was highly intoxicated and was deemed a danger to himself and others.

Consequently he was arrested and held overnight at the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment.

Martin CHARETTE (30 yrs) of Hawkesbury was arrested charged under section 31(4) of the Liquor License Act for Being intoxicated in public place. He was served a Provincial Offence Notice (ticket) with a fine of $65.

He was released the next morning.

CHARGED OF MISCHIEF WHILE INCARCERATED

(Champlain, ON) A man was in the L’Orginal Court cell block awaiting to appear at court in L’Orignal on Wednesday March 25th.

At one point the inmate lost his temper and broke a light fixture in his cell.

David WASYLKO (24 yrs) of Clarence-Rockland was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 430(4) for Mischief Under $ 5,000.
