(Prince Edward County, ON.) On Friday the 27th of March 2015 at 10:21pm officers from the Prince Edward OPP detachment were on patrol on Highway 62 when they observed a northbound vehicle approaching them at a high rate of speed. Officers turned their police vehicle around and began to follow the suspect vehicle which accelerated away reaching speeds in excess of 150kms per hour. The suspect vehicle was observed driving erratically in its lane when the officers were following. The vehicle turned onto Victoria Road where a traffic stop was initiated and was ultimately pulled over by the officers.
During the traffic stop it became apparent that the suspects ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested.
Nathan E. DAWSON, 29, of Quinte West has been charged with the following offences:
Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood
Careless Driving
Race a Motor Vehicle (Stunt Driving)
The 29 year old males vehicle was impounded for 7 days as a result of the incident.
He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on the 15th of April to answer to the above charges.
