Lugnuts Tampered

(Town of Penetanguishene, ON.) – Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating two similar incidents where the lug nuts of a vehicle had been tampered with.

On March 19, 2015 a female was driving on Highway 93 when she noticed a problem with her front driver’s tire. When she pulled over to the shoulder of the road, the tire fell off. It was later confirmed by a mechanic that the lug nuts had been tampered with.

On March 30, 2015 a male contacted Southern Georgian Bay OPP to report that the lug nuts of his front driver’s side tire had been loosened. The vehicle was parked at a Penetanguishene residence at the time. Both incidents took place in the vicinity of Sulky Drive, in the Town of Penetanguishene. There have been no injuries as a result of this type of recent criminal activity.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP is asking the public to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
