(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two people with drug related offences following a traffic stop on Highway 17A in the City of Kenora.
On Sunday March 29, 2015 shortly after 8:00 pm, members of the Kenora OPP conducted a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle on Highway 17A. The police investigation led to the arrest of the driver and a male passenger. Upon searching the vehicle, police located approximately 1.29 pounds of marihuana. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be around $3300.00.
As a result of this investigation, 41 year old Marie THOMPSON of Winnipeg and 19 year old Adam THOMPSON of Couchiching First Nations have been charged with Trafficking a Schedule II Substance-Marihuana Under 3 Kilograms contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) and Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Under 3 Kg contrary to sec 5(2) CDSA. They are to appear in Kenora Court on May 21, 2015 to answer to the charge.
